Exceptional Education
Ankeny Community School District serves more than 9,200 students and is one of the fastest growing districts in the state. In 2013, Ankeny High School was named one of the 2,000 Best Public High Schools by Newsweek, based on graduation rate, college acceptance rate and average test scores. A similar honor was bestowed by U.S. News and World report, who ranked Ankeny 1746th nationally and 10th in Iowa, on their Best High Schools list in June 2013.
Students excel academically with the AP participation rate at 26 percent and a 92.9percent graduation rate. In addition, many Ankeny high school students earn college credit at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) during their high school career.
Three new schools call Prairie Trail home:
Ankeny High School opened in Fall 2011. It occupies 70 acres of ground within the Prairie Trail development, located at Magazine Road and Ankeny Boulevard.
Southveiw Middle School is one of four middle schools in the Ankeny Community School District. It is located adjacent to Ankeny High School.
Prairie Trail Elementary is near Precedence neighborhood. It opened in Fall 2012.
The Prairie Trail Scholarship Program
The Prairie Trail Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students pursuing a college degree. Scholarship applicants living in Prairie Trail are eligible to receive $2,500 scholarships with a maximum lifetime award of $10,000. Preference is given to students who choose an institution based in Iowa.
